BHS Insurance has been connected with Wedgwood for well over half a century. As a leading insurance provider in the area, BHS has a passion for helping people by providing individualized service. Their genuine passion for helping others can even be seen for people outside of their clients. Wedgwood Christian Services is grateful for businesses like BHS who are involved with supporting their community.
BHS Insurance Vice President (HIA, RHU, CBC), Pat Dalton, who has been with the company for 20-years, has been a faithful supporter of Wedgwood. He recently sat down for a question/answer with us to share more about why BHS decides to give.
What is your organization’s connection to Wedgwood?
In the 1950’s one of the founders of BHS was on the board of directors at Wedgwood. The relationship grew and in the 80’s & 90’s when Lynne Hendricks and Tom Stuit both became a part of the board. Denny Hendricks and his family would help with maintenance projects on Saturdays at group homes.
Why does your business decide to give-back?
Giving back is part of the BHS legacy and history. Community is part of the core values at BHS, and we believe that giving back to organizations like Wedgwood, who help hurting children and their families, directly correlates to helping the community.

Wedgwood serves some very hurting kids. They do it better than any other and have been recognized as such. There is a clear Christian witness. They love and provide hope for these kids. They have a professional highly trained staff.

Why did you decide to support a Christian organization?
Providing care for hurting people is enhanced in a Christian culture of providing love as God loves all his children. To provide care with a Christian component supports the whole person who receives services at Wedgwood. BHS has been blessed to be a blessing to others.
What do you love most about Wedgwood?
The people at Wedgwood fully embody what it means to be a Christian mentor to kids who need it most. The support and love they show the kids doesn’t go unnoticed. Even when it is not the easiest job, they don’t stop showing God’s love.
How does Wedgwood’s mission of offering hope to youth, adults, and families align with your organization’s mission?
Showing love and support to the youth, adults, and families directly feeds back into the community. We want to support the community around us, and help those who are helping those in need. We feel called to be lights of Christ, and what the people at Wedgwood are doing is directly showing them that light. Being that light to a child in need can change their whole direction of life.
Do you find that your employees feel motivated and empowered to work for a company that gives back to the community?
Yes, we try to fully support and amerce our culture with similar values.
