Exceeding Goals and Supporting Kids
Wedgwood’s Annual Golf Event Outperforms Expectations
On Monday, June 7, 2021, Wedgwood Christian Services hosted the 36th Annual Charity Golf Classic at Egypt Valley Country Club to raise funds for the organization’s 100% donor-funded Transforming Services. Even with an afternoon rain shower, the event was near capacity with 348 golfers on both the Valley and Ridge courses.
“What a great day of golf and fellowship,” said one participant. “Knowing that the proceeds go to support such a worthy cause made it all the better.”
Proceeds from this event are directed to Wedgwood’s Transforming Services. These donor-funded programs are critical to helping children, teens, families, and adults heal from trauma in their pasts and move toward hopeful futures. The Transforming Services are: Recreation & Wellness, Employment Training, Chaplaincy & Youth Ministry, Manasseh Outreach, and Prevention.
Thanks to sponsors and golfers, Wedgwood’s 36th Annual Charity Golf Classic raised over $190,000, exceeding the event’s fundraising goal by over $10,000.
“We are moved by the generosity of our sponsors and participants,” said Vivian TerMaat, Wedgwood’s Chief Advancement Officer. “Coming out of 2020 we were unsure to what level people, businesses, and organizations would be willing and able to be a part of the Charity Golf Classic, but it is clear that our community values this event and cares deeply about individuals and families who are navigating mental, emotional, and behavioral health challenges.”
The Title Sponsors for Wedgwood’s 36th Annual Charity Golf Classic were Lumbermen’s Inc. and TCF Bank.
“Lumbermen’s has financially supported Wedgwood Christian Services almost since it’s beginnings in the 1960’s. Co-Sponsoring Wedgwood Charity Golf Classic is a way for us to help WCS successfully raise funds through this important fund-raising event,” said Rog Vanderheide, CEO of Lumbermen’s Inc. “We are honored to support Wedgwood as it works to meet the needs of our community. Wedgwood’s mission of providing grace-filled care and services for children, adults, and families is needed now more than ever.”
Wedgwood’s 37th Annual Charity Golf Classic is scheduled for Monday, June 6, 2022 at Egypt Valley Country Club.
