JP’s Story of Extravagant Love

On average, 97% of the kids Wedgwood cares for in our Residential Program have been neglected and abused, and made to feel like they are unworthy of love.

As a resident of Wedgwood, one evening JP heard about the extravagant love of Jesus around a bonfire. After the group returned back to their Residential Home, Steve (one of Wedgwood’s Chaplains), noticed JP was being uncharacteristically quiet and invited him for a walk. They walked through the white snow in silence until JP said, “I want that.” He wanted that forgiveness, that love, that relationship with Jesus. They stood outside, with beautiful snow falling around them, and JP invited this extravagant, life-giving love into his life.

Wedgwood’s mission is to extend God’s love to children, adults, and families and we do that by providing grace-filled Residential Care, Counseling Services, and Community Programs. To extend God’s love is a very big commitment. God’s love is so perfect – it is sacrificial, selfless, and unconditional. But He asks that we all love one another as he loves us. JP was looking for that kind of love. He found it in the way he was cared for here at Wedgwood, he found it in Jesus. Today JP knows how to love his family because of the love he received and learned at Wedgwood. These miracles are possible because of supporters like you!
