Wedgwood offers secure residential treatment for male and female youth between the ages of 8 and 17 who have experienced abuse and/or neglect and have significant mental health concerns and/or behavioral challenges. These youth may have self-destructive behavior, running behavior, defiance of authority, aggression, self-harming, or other high-risk behaviors. Trauma may have impacted their reactions and ability to cope with their environment. They need a holistic, team approach to help them learn the emotions behind their behaviors and learn how to cope with those emotions in a way that is no longer self-defeating. The youth are provided with a high staff-to-client ratio and on-campus schooling.
Youth between the ages of 6 -17 are typically referred to Wedgwood by caseworkers from the Department of Health and Human Services or Juvenile Courts.
Referrals are made through an agency that will provide funding for services, such as Michigan Department of Health and Human Services (MDHHS) or Juvenile Courts. In general, insurance does not pay for residential treatment at Wedgwood.
